Annette Josephine Dorn

Annette Josephine Dorn, 86, of Downingtown, passed away on June 24, 2026. Born in South Philadelphia in 1940, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Carmelita (Famiglietti) Flynn and moved to the Delaware County Suburbs as a young adult, then to Chester County and later Lancaster County as various nursing jobs presented themselves.

Annette was an LPN who worked in local hospitals and private duty for families in the Philadelphia suburbs throughout her career; she was a dedicated and caring healthcare provider for her patients.

Annette was raised in the Roman Catholic faith, but in adulthood pursued a non-denominational personal relationship with Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. She was a devoted Christian who enjoyed raising her 6 children, reading her bible, shopping and decorating/designing spaces.

She was a talented florist who could naturally design a beautiful flower arrangement or holiday decoration with ease. In addition, Annette enjoyed pottery, crafting, and family time. She enjoyed cooking Italian style meals she learned from her mother and hosting holidays for her family.

Annette was a big-hearted mother who was an only child who wanted a large family. Counting 6 children, 11 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren so far; the family would say “mission accomplished.”

Along with her mother, beloved “Nana”, Annette raised a generation of hard-working, loving children who continued that tradition into the next generation. Annette would want to be remembered as the kind, big hearted, caring individual she was – one who served the Lord, her faith, family and friends the best way she knew how.

Annette is survived by her children, Renae (Shenberger) Caserta and her husband, Fran; Ken Shenberger, Steven Shenberger and his wife, Robin; Charles Shenberger and his wife, Janice; Joe Shenberger, and Archie Deacon and his wife, Alison; her grandchildren, Jennifer Muller, Jessica Muller (deceased), Tiffany Shenberger, Steven Jr. and Saige Shenberger, Danielle Shenberger, Charles Jr. Shenberger, Kelsey Shenberger, James Shenberger, Lauren Deacon, Olivia Deacon; her great-grandchildren, Andrea Muller, Gianna Gentile, Angelina Caserta, Sofia Caserta, Luca Caserta; Wyatt Shenberger, Charlotte Shenberger, Cordelia Shenberger, Harvey Shenberger, Willow Shenberger; Kaydance Shenberger, Grayson Shenberger, and Tabitha Shenberger.

She will be sorely missed, and her love and kindness will not be forgotten. “We love you!”. RIP. God Bless.

A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held on October 10th at 11AM at Journey Church in Phoenixville, Pa.
