Aurora Commero of Willow Street, PA, passed away on Friday, November 10, 2023.  She was the beloved wife of James, with whom she shared 16 years of marriage. Born on December 14, 1978, in Panama City, Panama, she was the daughter of Fredesvindo Hernandez Guerra and Mercedes Garcia Bethancourt.

Raised in Panama City, Panama, Aurora moved to the United States in 2005 to study English and worked as a nanny for a military family in Arlington, VA.  Then, in April 2007, Aurora and James first met online.  They immediately deeply loved one another and decided to meet in person in May 2007; on October 26, 2007, they were married and pregnant with their first child, Andrew.  In March 2012, Aurora and James welcomed their daughter, Allison, into the world.

Some places in Lancaster County that Aurora worked for include Brethren Village, Willow Valley Retirement Communities, and Lampeter-Strasburg Elementary School.  Along with working and raising a family, Aurora had a photography business and was a caregiver for a local family.

Aurora enjoyed a variety of hobbies in her lifetime.  She was an avid dancer and loved photography.  She also enjoyed knitting, cooking, the beach, and board games, and she loved eating crabs.  But most importantly, Aurora loved her family and friends.

Aurora was a member of Grace Community Church of Willow Street and part of the Cancer Support Group at Grace Community Church of Willow Street.  In February 2020, Aurora was diagnosed with stomach cancer. In March 2020, doctors discovered it was stage 4. After a three-year battle, Aurora went home to be with Jesus.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two children, Andrew and Allison. Her mother, Mercedes Garcia Bethancourt, of Panama City, Panama; her sister, Dulce Hernández wife of Teddy  of Panama City, Panama; and brothers, Sammy Hernandez, husband of Graciela of Panama City, Panama, and Jose Hernandez of Panama City, Panama.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Sunday, December 3rd, from 5-6 PM, with a dessert social and a visit with family to follow.  The service will be at Grace Community Church of Willow Street, 212 Peach Bottom Road, Willow Street, PA 17584.
