Barbara Hafey was a life-long bridge player, plant lover, interior decorator, and car enthusiast.  I think people would describe Barb as spicy, or spunky, and remained so until her death at her home in Cleona under the care of family and Hospice.

In High School she played softball and field hockey, voted "Best Looking Couple" with her sister Jan's future husband, and was Homecoming Queen and Prom Queen.  She was a good looking lady!

After High School she worked as a secretary until she married Robert J Hafey.  Bob and Barb first lived in a Mt.Gretna cottage and a few years later they moved into the Mt. Gretna house.

Barbara resided in the Mt.Gretna home until 1989.  She loved the town and its social events. She played tennis at the Gretna Club and was a summer fixture at Mt. Gretna Lake with her children Robert Jr. and Jonathan.  She also started and ran Mt.Gretna Real Estate and later worked at the local Mt.Gretna Bank branch.

Barbara's marriage ended in divorce in 1973. She raised the two boys on her own.  She battled with mental health conditions her entire life but she always held jobs she didn't want to do, paid her bills, and she never stopped caring for her family. She was a fighter and a survivor.

Barbara moved from Mt.Gretna to Cleona in 1989  where she resided for 32 years.  Most recently she left her Cleona home and moved to the WIllows Senior Apartments so that her son Jonathan and family could move in to take care of the house.

Barb fulfilled a dream of going to NYC to see a Broadway show in November of 2023 less than two months before receiving a diagnosis of stage 4 cancer.  She had a life-long love affair with cigarettes which ultimately took her life.

Barbara is survived by her three grandchildren Hannah Hafey, Alex Hafey, and Nia Hafey, her sons Rob and Jonathan, and her sisters Jan, Lorraine, and Joanne.
