Bernadette Veronica Carson, age 71, a lifelong resident of Lancaster, passed away on June 12, 2025, at Lancaster General Health after a brief illness. Born in Lancaster to the late Bernard J. and Hedwig D. (Kush) Lichty, she was the wife of the late Thomas C. Carson and the partner of Howard H Halsey, with whom she shared 26 years of companionship.

Bernadette earned a degree in accounting and worked for her brother-in-law, Ted, in the family trash business, Ted Carson’s Disposal Service, until he retired and sold the business. Afterwards, she worked for him in his Old Glory Motorcycle Shop & Southside Tire & Auto. It was there that she met her longtime partner, Howard, when he was hired as a mechanic at Southside Tire and Auto.

To her family, Bernadette was affectionately called “Granny”. She loved Classic Rock music; her favorite band was White Snake. She saw a myriad of concerts in her life and counted some the best moments shared family moments as those spent at those concerts. Bernadette loved dogs her entire life and enjoyed owning many dogs while raising a family. She leaves behind her precious Shih-Tzu, Luna and Cane Corso, Max.

Her family cared for her at home until she was admitted to the hospital in her final days.

Bernadette is survived by her longtime partner, Howard; her son, Thomas Joseph (fiancé of Samantha Bernard); her triplet daughters (each born 1 minute apart), Anne Marie (girlfriend of Wayne Holdsworth); Stephanie Elizabeth, wife of Craig Portner; and Christina Veronica. In addition, she is survived by her grandchildren, Sabine, Giannie, Scarlett, Brendan, Lincoln, and Alita. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
