Brian Michael Phelps

Brian Michael Phelps, 65, of Glen Rock, passed away at his residence on April 24, 2026. He was the son of Joyce (Frock) and the late Paul Phelps, and a 1979 graduate of Northern High School in Baltimore City.

He started his career as electronics technician at Philchek in Baltimore with the rest of his career spent as electronics technician/engineer at Becton Dickinson (BD) for 26 years before retiring 2015.

Brian was an all-around Mr. Fix-It with many interests. He was self-taught in computer programming; played guitar and keyboards and had collections of both. He was a CB and ham radio enthusiast (with the handle “Big B”) as well as a Tube radio enthusiast and amateur locksmith.

He was interested in all kinds of science including chemistry and anything to do with computers and programming. Brian was an All-Around Mr. Fix-It for TVs, audio equipment, VCRs, and other entertainment equipment, and a tinkerer at home. He could fix electric, plumbing and anything else that broke. He loved working on small engines, so he maintained his collection of tools and “yard equipment."

In addition, Brian collected colored glassware, Pyrex scientific glassware, and anything in electronics - if you needed a part, he had it. He was an avid reader of American history, politics, mystery, and intrigue, and a prolific YouTube creator with channel "Glasstronic" where he shared his knowledge of all the stuff he fixed and tinkered with.

Brian was not a religious man, but he said he was ready to meet Jesus, and he had lots of questions. Always the brilliant mind and always the comedian. The last song played was the one he posted on YouTube that he wrote for his girl, Felicia, called: "Don't end." When the last note was played, he took his last breath. Exactly how he would have wanted it.

Brian is survived by his life partner of 45 years, Felicia Ernst; his mother, Joyce Frock Phelps; his sister, Linda Phelps Brennan; niece Claire Brennan Lincoln; his nephew Sean Brennan; many aunts, uncles and cousins; as well as extended family and many friends. He is also survived by his cats, Spyder, Marti, Tuner and Winder, all of whom he named. He was proceeded in death by his father, Paul Phelps.
