Obituary

Brian Lynn Sinclair, 71, of Wrightsville, passed on August 5, 2025, at his residence. Born May 8, 1954, in Red Lion, Brian was the son of Enos E. and Shirley J. (Smuck) Sinclair.

He attended school in Red Lion before enrolling at York County Vo-Tech, class of 1972, to study in the machine shop. He also earned an associate’s degree in mechanical engineering from Penn State. Brian went on to a long career as a journeyman machinist at various businesses in York County, spending most of his career at Caterpillar. After 49 years in the field, Brian retired from Donsco.

Brian was a true outdoorsman and would proudly share more than half a century’s worth of hunting and fishing stories with anyone who would listen. With his photo-like memory, he never needed a map to get anywhere. He loved spending his time target shooting and precision reloading; it was not uncommon for him to gift ammunition to friends and family. He had a passion for history, spending long hours volunteering with various archaeological organizations to unearth native American artifacts during geological digs. His home was a testament to his passions filled with antiques, artifacts, books, family heirlooms, animal mounts, guns and ammo, and pictures drawn by his grandchildren. Outside, you will find a full garden, flowers in bloom, trees, and birds enjoying the feeders all of which he could identify on site. He loved cooking and took pride in his culinary creations, including squirrel pot pie and snapping turtle soup. His vast knowledge in many subject areas, advice, and bull-headed nature will be missed by all who knew him.

Throughout his life, Brian was a member of various organizations, including the PA Archaeological Society, the United Auto Workers Union (UAW), Windsor Fish and Game, the Izaak Walton League, the PA Antique Bottle Association, Friends of Camp Security, the National Rifle Association, and recently spent time volunteering with the Muddy Creek Forks Chapter of the Trout Unlimited Group.

Brian is survived by his longtime companion, Naomi Garcia, four children: Jakob L. Sinclair (Angela), Joshua B. Sinclair (Melissa), Jasmine J. Campbell (Joshua), all of Wrightsville, and Jenica B. Besbris (Ethan) of York. ‘Pappy’ will also be deeply missed by 12 grandchildren and two great-grandsons. He taught his family how to be self-sufficient, question authority, respect the rules, and to make your own rules, all at the same time. He was a rebel to the end.

Family and friends are invited to a celebration of life on Saturday, August 9, at 12:00, at Indian Steps Museum in Airville, PA. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Susquehanna National Heritage, 1706 Long Level Rd., Wrightsville, PA 17368.
