IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Carol
Work
November 16, 1943 – April 17, 2024
Carol Ann Wiker Work, a beloved Wife, Mother, Grandma and Great Grandma, passed away peacefully in her sleep on April 17th in her Strasburg home. Carol spent her last day as her spunky, nutsy self, sharing laughs and time with her kids, grandkids, and great grandkids. She was surrounded by love. Carol was born on November 16th, 1943 to Milton and Anna Wiker in Lancaster, PA. She grew up with her brother, Ron, and her goofy sisters, Pat and Nancy. After the loss of her first baby, Michael, she became a mother to Michelle, Mark, Keith and Dave Jr., whom she loved deeply. She met the love of her life, David Work (Pop Pop) and they married in 1986 and shared 37 beautiful years together. Some of their favorite days were spent laughing and enjoying time with their 11 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.Outside of her family life, she spent many days with her lovely coworkers at the American Music Theatre. Carol had a passion for music, and working here filled her days with joy, silliness, dancing, and autographs from her favorite Elvis impersonators. She also spent many years from Shearson to Smith Barney where she made beautiful lifelong friendships with her coworkers. Carol passed away one month after her husband. She was able to say her final goodbyes at his funeral just four days before her passing.Carol will be missed by her sister, Nancy, and her children, Michelle and Travis, Mark and Kim, and Keith and Kim, David and Deidre and her grandchildren, Mackenna, Adam, Derek, Alyssa, Kayla, Lindsay, Erica, Ashley, Kyra, Cody, and Kyle; Her great grandchildren Claire, Theo, Rylee, Jameson, Christopher, Adelyn, Ivie, Flora, and Olivia. The loss of this crazy, beautiful woman weighs heavy on our hearts, but we are comforted knowing she is finally holding her baby, Michael, and reunited with her husband and sister, Pat, and so many others who loved her throughout her life.
A service to celebrate Carol's life will be held on April 28, 2024, at 3 PM at Wesley United Methodist Church on West Main Street in Strasburg, PA. Family visitation will begin at 2.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Sweet Pea Project, PO Box 10351, Lancaster, PA 17605.
