With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Carolyn Mae Kahler (née Burkland), aged 80, on January 19, 2025, in Mount Joy, Pennsylvania. Born on May 15, 1944, in Danville, Pennsylvania, to Robert L. (Sr.) and Mary K. (Terry) Burkland. She was proceeded in death by her parents, a brother, Robert L. Burkland Jr. and her beloved husband of over 45 years, Robert M. Kahler.
She is survived by a sister, Patricia Alamo and her husband David: her nephew John Alamo and his wife Nicole, along with their two children; two nieces, Jennifer (Alamo) Bhaskaran and her husband Suraj, and their three children, as well as Laura (Alamo) Conley and her husband Jaime, and her 2 children and 3 stepchildren. Carolyn is also survived by a brother, Joseph Burkland and his wife Lorie.
She was also survived by four stepchildren, Gail, Craig, Mark and Brad Kahler and their children and grandchildren.
A member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Danville, Carolyn attended St. Joseph Elementary School and St. Cyril Academy. She obtained a teaching degree from Cabrini College and taught elementary school at the Catholic Diocese of Lebanon, PA.
Carolyn lived a life marked by dedication and love, leaving a memorable impact on all who were privileged to know her. Throughout her life, she embodied grace, compassion, and an unyielding sense of responsibility, qualities that defined her interactions with all she came to know.
Carolyn's departure leaves a profound void, yet her legacy of kindness and dedication to her family remains an enduring solace. In remembering Carolyn, we are reminded of the importance of nurturing kindness within our communities, a principle she championed through her actions and care. Her memory will continue to inspire those who were touched by her genuine spirit and warmth.
In quiet moments of reflection, let us honor Carolyn by celebrating the values she treasured throughout her days.
