Carolyn L. Shultz, 87, passed away on November 9, 2022 at WellSpan York Hospital. Born in York, PA, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Helen (Morrison) Ensminger. Carolyn was the mother of Jody Brown, wife of John Brown, Brian Shultz and Shelby Knaper, all of York, PA; a dedicated grandmother to Jason Brown, husband of Jean; great-grandmother to 6 great-grandchildren; and sister to Marilyn Stoner of Lancaster, PA and Constance Zuch of Camp Hill, PA. Carolyn became the Director of Housing at York College which allowed her to take night classes to earn her Bachelors Degree and become a World Cultures teacher at Dallastown Area Senior High School for over 20 years. While teaching full-time she earned her Master's degree. She really treasured her career and took great pride in her work. Carolyn traveled extensively around the world for her teaching career and was known for her slide shows and show and tell objects she brought back from her travels. She spent time in Greece, Rome, Egypt, Spain, Asia and many other countries. She spent a year in China where she taught English at a College and she earned a Fulbright scholarship to study in Israel. Carolyn was a courageous, strong-willed woman. She typically would travel with a group to other countries, but would take some adventures by herself despite language barriers and the unknown.
