Charles E. "Gene" Stevenson , 87, passed away peacefully at his Washington Boro home on February 17, 2026. Born in Lancaster to the late Robert S. and Minnie (Sauder) Stevenson, Gene was the loving husband of Peggy (Nixdorf) Stevenson.

Gene was a graduate of Penn Manor High School and a proud veteran of the United States Air Force, serving four years in cryptanalysis (1956 - 1960), during the early Cold War and Space Exploration era.

After serving in the military, Gene began his career as a truck driver, first at Motor Freight Express for 22 years and then Yellow Freight for an additional 20 years.

Gene was an avid hunter and fisherman who kept active through winemaking, gardening, exercising, and spending time at the beach with his family. More importantly, he relished the time playing with his children and grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, Peggy, he is survived by his sister Kathryn, sons James Stevenson (Elizabeth) and Robert Stevenson (fiancé Kristy Ruhlman), and grandchildren, Austin, Rebekah, Logan, and Katherine Stevenson. He is predeceased by a brother, Robert Jr.
