Cheryl Suzanne McGovern passed away on January 2, 2026, after a long life of strength, determination, and faith. Born on October 11, 1944, Cheryl graduated from Middletown High School and ended her career at The Heart Group in Lancaster.

Cheryl poured her heart into her daughters and grandchildren with unconditional love, patience, and devotion—an unwavering commitment she carried with her until her final day. For Cheryl, relationships were the heartbeat of life.

Cheryl also found great joy in nature and gardening. Getting her ‘hands dirty’ and listening to the birds sing were cornerstones of her personal connection to God, as was the community and service work she participated in at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Lancaster.

She is survived by her brothers, Craig (MN) and Roger (VA); her daughters, Jennifer (Kevin) and Kristen; and her beloved grandchildren—Alayna, Nathan, John, and Hannah. Cheryl will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

A memorial celebration will be held at St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lancaster on January 9th at 10 am followed by graveside service for immediate family
