David Richard Brown, 75, of York, passed away peacefully at home in the presence of his family members on February 24, 2026. Born in Bristol, CT to the late Richard and Mary (Savino) Brown, he was the husband of Jo Ann (Lewey) Russo.

David was a renaissance man who enjoyed drawing, painting, and sculpting throughout his life. He spent his life working with his hands, creating sculptures from stone and chocolate. He filled his passport over the years traveling the cities of Europe, and the jungles of India and Cambodia. In his retirement, he led a very green life, spending time in his garden and kitchen. David enjoyed watching basketball, especially the Boston Celtics, with his family.

David spent his career as an Executive Pastry Chef, first in Dallas, TX, and then in Hawaii where he served as an Executive Pastry Chef for Hilton Waikoloa Village for many years. His highly specialized creations provided an opportunity for many visitors and staff to admire his unusual artistic talent. After his time with Hilton, David continued to share his craft by teaching culinary classes at the University of Hawaii, Manoa, and Kapiolani College.

He was a member of the 1993 USA Team for the Coupe du Monde de la Patisserie

David is survived by his wife, Jo Russo; his son Mario, his wife Kim and their children Matthew and Violet; his son Nikos and his partner Kelly and their children Adali and Keawe; his daughter Tatianna; his stepsons Edward Russo, and Bryan Russo and wife Susan; his daughter Jayla; his granddaughter Ryann; as well as his brothers, Bill and wife Gia, Peter, and Michael; his sisters Marianne Ellis, Theresa and Jack Norton, Nancy and Al Goldstein; several nieces and nephews; as well as extended family and many friends.

The family would like to extend sincere gratitude to Amedisys Hospice Care of York, PA, for David's outstanding care. In his memory, donations can be made to The Amedisys Foundation, hospice location 129 - York PA.

At their convenience, the family will plan private memorial services to celebrate and honor David.
