David James Kennedy, Jr.

David J. Kennedy, Jr., 76, passed away at Hospice & Community Care on May 4, 2026. Born in Philadelphia in 1949 to the late David J. and Barbara (Adsit) Kennedy, Sr., he was the loving husband of Anne (Strickler) “Muffy” Kennedy with whom he shared 41 years of marriage.

David was a 1968 graduate of Conestoga Valley High School and spent most of his career at Flextsteel in Lancaster.

Dave was a prolific bowler for over 50 years who bowled more than 70 perfect 300 games. He won many individual and team tournaments in Lancaster and around Pennsylvania. He was a member of the record-breaking team that still holds the Lancaster County record of 3826, set in 2006. At that game, Dave shot a score of 764. In addition, he participated in 30 consecutive USBC National tournaments from 1982 – 2011. The bowling trip to Reno in 1984 with his team in a rented motor home created memories for a lifetime.

Dave was also an avid golfer who was a member of the Lancaster Senior Men’s Golf Association for more than 15 years and played every Wednesday at Four Seasons Golf Club. In addition, for four years, he played in golf leagues at Overlook Golf Course and volunteered at both Ladies PGA Tournaments at Lancaster Country Club (2015 and 2025).

He enjoyed watching all sports and “arguing” about the Philadelphia teams with his best friend, Neal Vital.

In addition to his wife Anne “Muffy”, he is survived by his son, Jim of Lancaster; three siblings, Sandra Harnish (wife of George), Scott (husband of Julie), and Robert “Bobby;” several nieces, nephews, and grand-nieces and nephews; extended family and many friends, including his best friend, Neal.

As per his wishes, services will be private at the convenience of the family.
