David Wayne Work, a beloved husband, father, and Pop-pop, passed away peacefully on March 18, 2024, at Lancaster Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Lancaster, PA. He was surrounded by his loving family during his final moments.

David was born on October 5, 1943, in Christiana, PA to his parents John Work and Anna Mae Russell.

Dave was a man of many talents and passions. He graduated from Pequea Valley High School in 1962 and went on to have a successful career at Coyle Electric for fifty years. In retirement, he found joy working at Zimmerman's Hardware.

In 1986, David married the love of his life, Carol, in Strasburg, PA. Together, they shared 37 wonderful years of marriage and many cherished memories. Dave was a dedicated family man who adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He found immense happiness in spending time with his loved ones and creating lasting bonds with each generation.

Beyond his family life, Dave was deeply involved in his community. He was a member of the Strasburg Lion Club, a boy scout leader, a Lampeter Strasburg crossing guard, and a volunteer fireman for over 40 years. He was also a familiar face at Wesley's United Methodist Church, where he participated in the Christmas pageant for over 40 years. Playing the role of a King in the pageant was his favorite, especially when his great-granddaughters portrayed baby Jesus.

In his leisure time, Dave enjoyed deer hunting with his son and fox hunting with his stepdad, Zip. He was known for his friendly demeanor, love of conversation, and willingness to help anyone in need.

Dave had a special fondness for his hometown of Strasburg and took pleasure in simple joys like sharing a meal with loved ones.

David Wayne Work is survived by his dedicated wife, Carol A. Work; his step-children Michelle and Travis, Mark and Kim, and Keith and Kim; his grandchildren Mackenna, Adam, Derek, Alyssa, Kayla, Lindsay, Cody, Kyle, Erica, Ashley, and Kyra; and his great-grandchildren Claire, Theodore, Rylee, Jameson, Christopher, Adelynn, Flora, and Ivie; his sister Deb Gurtizen Brown (Paul).

He was preceded in death by his son David Work, Jr. (Deidre).

A Memorial service to honor and celebrate David's life will be held on April 13, 2024, at 10:00 AM at Wesley United Methodist Church on West Main Street in Strasburg, PA, USA. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Strasburg Lions Club, PO Box 185, Strasburg, PA 17579 or to Ephrata National Bank Benefit for Mackenna Work. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Lancaster Nursing and Rehabilitation and Hospice for their compassionate care and support during David's final months. His legacy of love and kindness will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
