Obituary

Della Jane Troop (Peters) of Conestoga PA passed away peacefully at the Hospice Center in Mount Joy on July 12, 2024 at the age of 55 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Della leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories that will forever be held dear by her family and friends.

Born May 31, 1969 in Lancaster, Della attended Brecknock Elementary School & Faith Mennonite High School.

Della spent many fulfilling years as a trash truck driver, a job she was passionate about, cherishing the camaraderie she had with her colleagues. Her love for the outdoors was immense, and she enjoyed activities like hunting, fishing, and spending time at her cabin in the mountains. She was an avid baker, known for her delightful desserts and copious types holiday cookies. Della also recently took up freeze drying, a hobby she thoroughly enjoyed, along with thrift shopping every chance she got. Della also cherished spending time with her grandchildren and was always up for watching her favorite movies or dining out at her favorite restaurant, Old South Smokehouse in Maryland. She also had a talent for sewing and quilting, and was a proud Mama to her beloved cat, Chubbs.

She is survived by her loving husband, Theodore Troop; her children, Jessica Henry (Husband Taylor) of Newmanstown, Brian Fox (fiancé Kristen) of Lititz, Beverly Fox (fiancé Donald) of Chambersburg, and stepdaughter Ashley Troop of Lititz. Della was a cherished grandmother to 11 grandchildren: Tyler, Troy, Hannah, Courtney, Damian, Zackary, Ariel, Ashton, Ryland, Melody, and Paige. She is also survived by her siblings Deb Zimmerman (Husband Lynn) of Ephrata, Cindy Jurasinski (Husband Jim) of Adamstown, John Peters of Florida, Stevie Peters of Fivepointville, David Keen (Wife Bonnie) of Lancaster,  Bill Johns (Wife Mary) of Orwigsburg, Joesph Johns of Conestoga  and Sister in law Pearl House (Husband Mark) of Denver, as well as her biological mother, Monica Rihneer of Lancaster. She's also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Della was preceded in death by her adoptive parents, John and Arlene Peters, and her biological father, William Johns.

Her life will be commemorated privately at a graveside service for immediate family members. A celebration of her life will be announced at a later date, where friends and extended family will gather to honor her memory and legacy. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a cancer research organization of your choice. Della's memory will forever live on through the love and memories shared by her family and friends.
