Donald P. Powell

Donald Patrick Powell, 91, of Harrisburg passed away Friday, May 1, 2026, surrounded by his family. Born in Cleveland, OH, he was the son of the late Russell Flitzcraft and Grace Fedor. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Powell, of 61 years, and two infant daughters, Susan and Carla Powell.

Donald was a 1953 graduate of Hershey High School and worked at the Hershey Chocolate Factory for 40 years. Don was a member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, Hershey, PA, a Scout leader for Boy Scouts Troop 108, and completed two treks to Philmont, NM. In his free time, Don enjoyed gardening, hunting, flea markets, the annual bean soup festival, photography, and train rides.

Surviving are sons Donald and Christopher Powell, daughters, Linda Beachel (Timothy) and Jennifer Engle (Timothy), grandchildren Rosanne, Jeremey, Zachary, and Sydney, and four great-grandchildren Jacob, Jesse, Jenirose, and Zander.

In keeping with Don’s wishes, there will be no formal service. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to any of the following: Hospice for All Seasons in Grantville, PA, Our Lady of the Cross School in Lebanon, PA or the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, PA.
