Frank C. Thorius, 74, of Downingtown and formerly of Strasburg, died peacefully at the Veteran's Administration Hospital in Coatesville on February 12th, 2023. Born in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late Edler and Doris Thorius. For over 30 years, Frank was a steel worker at S. S. Fisher's Steel and later Powell Steel in Willow Street. Most recently, Frank was employed at Wegman's in Downingtown as a stocker and greeter. A 1966 graduate of Midwood High School in Brooklyn, Frank was a member of the varsity basketball team, and the sweet shooting lefty was a starter as a Freshman. Frank was a proud United States Navy veteran who served in the Vietnam War. "Brooklyn" Frank enjoyed spending time with his family and always had a kind disposition. In his spare time, he was an avid New York Football Giants fan. While growing up in Brooklyn, he followed the Brooklyn Dodgers and New York Giants and told countless stories of watching his favorite player, Willie Mays. Frank will be truly missed by his family and friends who loved him. Frank is survived by his three sons, Brett, (Cassie), Ryan (Tasha), and Corey. He leaves behind four grandchildren: Tyler, Abby, Austin and Griffin. And is survived by a sister, Carolyn Ferguson of Exton; four nephews and three nieces. Frank was preceded in death by nieces Karen and Kim, as well as a sister Lois and his parents. The family will be celebrating Frank's life in a private gathering and would like to extend a special thank you to all the staff and providers at the Veteran's Administration Hospital who cared for Frank.
