Obituary

Heather Marie Crawford, 60, of Harrisburg, passed away peacefully at Hershey Medical Center on August 21, 2024. She was a daughter of David Lawrence Shaw and Carole (Rodgers) Shaw. She is survived by her sons Harrison Crawford of Delaware and Alfonso Crawford of Florida as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Heather was born in western Pennsylvania, but lived most of her life in the Harrisburg area. In the early 1980's she was lead singer for a band that toured the country, singing current pop tunes and working with very talented people who remained friends with many of the band members years later thanks to social media. After all the travel, she opted to settle in Florida for a number of years, marry and raise her two sons. While there, she worked for over 8 years at the Public Defenders office as a case manager, earning much respect for her dedication to helping the public. After her divorce, she returned to the Harrisburg area to be closer to family and worked a number of jobs before she found her true calling as a Caregiver. During her years of Caregiving work, she acquired a long list of clients and the families who praised her compassionate and dedicated care. Heather took great pride in her work and maintaining those friendships long after caring for their loved ones.

In her free time, Heather loved to study and explore local history. There wasn't a historic plaque she didn't stop to read. She also deeply researched her family ancestry, tracing back to the early 1600's where her family was one of the first to arrive in America. Also, she has a long history of love for all animals including horses, her many pets, and wildlife like birds and deer. There are many stories of her bringing home stray animals as a young girl and protecting those that needed a little help.

That was Heather, a giving soul to those in need and a staunch defender of what was right and good in the world. She will be greatly missed by the people who knew her best.
