James L. Briggs

James L. Briggs, 83, of York, passed away peacefully in the early hours of June 1, 2026, of natural causes. Born in Norfolk, VA March 16, 1943, to the late Reuben A. and Pauline (Walker) Briggs, he spent most of his career in positions of Building and Operations Manager of different organizations.

James LOVED NASCAR and football with his favorite teams, first the Redskins and later the Baltimore Ravens.

James is survived by his wife Emily V. Briggs; his children Michael Scott (Debra Poff), Mark Scott, Amy Stark (John), Lisa Hill (Dean), Dwaine Briggs (Michelle), and Tommy Briggs (Joan Znaniecki); 13 grandchildren & 27 great-grandchildren; his sister, Sarah Ann Stewart; as well as numerous nieces and nephews and extended family.

In addition to his parents, he was proceeded in death by his sisters, Christine Wray Maurice and Dorothy Corona; his brother, Thomas Reuben Briggs; and his son Reuben James Briggs.

Services will be held a St. Paul Lutheran Hametown Church at 10:00 am on Saturday June 27th. The address is 11894 Susquehanna Trail S, Glen Rock, PA 17327
