Dr. James Edward Flynn passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home shared with his son and daughter-in-law, on the 14th of October 2023, surrounded by his family. He was the son of Mr. James Flynn and Mrs. Florence Schultz. Born on April 12, 1935, Dr. Flynn was a humble and gracious man, and devoted father, grandfather and selfless and committed husband to his wife of over 55 years. He attended North Catholic High School for Boys in Philadelphia and then Temple University where he played college baseball and later graduated from Temple's Kornberg School of Dentistry. Dr. Flynn served honorably in the United States Air Force, stationed at home providing dental care to his fellow men and women in uniform.

Dr. Flynn loved the small things in life because for him, they were the big things—the Phillies, the Eagles, the shore, the outdoors, ice cream, Fleetwood Mack, working with his hands, and cooking Italian food (passing down his famous meat sauce recipe to his family). He spent as much time as possible in his final months sitting on his front porch and also enjoyed watching baseball, movies (his favorite was A Man Called Otto ), and Mark and Kelly . Above all, Dr. Flynn cherished every second with his family, whom he loved more than anything else in the world.

Dr. Flynn was a Philly boy, through and through. Growing up in Philadelphia in the mid-1930s, he came from humble yet honorable beginnings. His father was an immigrant from Glasgow, Scotland and a union man who worked as a machinist to give Dr. Flynn and his brother, Dr. Donald Flynn every opportunity he could.

Dr. Flynn will be forever missed, and his memory cherished and honored always. If you would like to honor Dr. Flynn, live your life with kindness and compassion.
