Jerome O'Neil Burg

Jerome O. “Jiggs” Burg, Sr., 87, of Wrightsville, passed away at his home on September 20, 2026. Born in Columbia in 1939, he was the son of the late Victor E. and Carrie A. (Holtzinger) Burg and the loving husband of Janet (Kriner) Burg with whom he shared 65 years of marriage.

“Jiggs” served 6 years in the United States Air Force with the 98th Interceptor Squadron (ADC) as a munition specialist in Okinawa, Japan. After his time in the service, Jiggs became a truck driver for Consolidated Freightways – a job he held for 35 years.

Outside of work, he was an avid woodworker, building things from furniture to cabinets to home structures. He followed both the Philadelphia Eagles and Philadelphia Phillies with GREAT enthusiasm. But more importantly, his vacation time to his favorite East Coast beaches (especially Assateague) with Janet were especially enjoyable.

“Jiggs” was a longtime member of Church of God, Columbia, where he served as a deacon and custodian alongside his wife.

In addition to his wife, Janet, of 65 years, he is survived by his son, Steven Burg; his grandchildren Ray Burg, Brittany Logan, and Travis Burg; his great-grandchildren, Knoxx, Lawson, Henry, and Romie; as well as extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his son, Jerome Burg, Jr.

A celebration of life will be held at Kreutz Creek Valley VFW, Post No. 7045, Hellam, PA on Saturday, October 3, 2026, from 2PM – 6PM.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a loving donation in his name to Hospice & Community Care, 685 Good Drive, Lancaster, PA 17604.
