John D. Cunningham

John D. Cunningham, 87, of York, passed away at Yorkview Nursing & Rehab on April 19, 2026. Born in Juniata, PA to the late James B. and Emma (Shermeyer) Cunningham, he was the loving husband of Arlene (Daugherty) Cunningham with whom he shared 37 years of marriage.

He was a 1956 graduate of Central High School and a proud veteran of the United States Amry. John worked as a diesel mechanic for more than 4 decades, retiring from Penske in 1998. Outside of work, John was an avid hunter and fisherman.

John was a member of Faith Bible Fellowship Church.

In addition to his wife, Arlene, he is survived by his son, Matthew Cunningham (Lisa); his daughters, Kelly Mauller and Linda Shaffer; his stepdaughter, Amanda Felty (Woody); three grandchildren; his brother Carl Cunningham; as well as extended family and many friends.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family.
