Obituary

John E. Kuhns, 89, of New Providence, passed away at Newport Meadows Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Christiana, on Sunday, June 2, 2024.

He was born in Columbia, the son of the late Chester Kuhns, Sr. and Zelma (Henry) Kuhns. He was the husband of Nancy L. Kuhns, who preceded him in death in 2001. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Chester Kuhns, Sr., Vincent Kuhns, and Alfred Kuhns.

John graduated from Columbia High School, class of 1952. He then served his country in the United States Marine Corps for six years. He retired from Intellegencer Printing in 1997 where he worked as a pressman's helper. He also spent time working at Weis Markets.

John was a member of Grace Community Church in Willow Street.

He had so much love for his family and his granddog Rascal, who is with him in heaven. John was known to his extended family and friends as "Jack" and many others as "Pop". He was loved and will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and neighbors, Barbara Fink and Jane Miller.

John is survived by his daughter, Sharon; son, Mike; daughter-in-law, Anna; grandson, Michael and  granddaughter, Paige.

John's Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 3, 2024, at Grace Community Church, 212 Peach Bottom Road, Willow Street.

A time to greet his famly will begin at 9:00 AM, with the service beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Creswell Cemetery, 1165 Letort Road, Conestoga. John will receive military honors.

A luncheon will follow the interment where friends and family will meet back at Grace Community Church.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Tunnel 2 Towers ( t2t.org ) in memory of John.
