John S. Sawyer

John S. “Steve” Sawyer, 84, of Dillsburg, unexpectedly passed away at his residence on October 19, 2026. Born in Oneida, NY, in 1942, he was the son of the late Charles H. and Candace (Loud) Sawyer and the loving husband of Laura (Buerger) Sawyer.

He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 1965, where he competed in crew and wrestling. A proud 20-year veteran of the United States Army, he was also an avid coin collector from childhood and enjoyed playing chess.

In addition to his wife, Laura, he is survived by his daughter, Julie Helms; his granddaughters, Sarah Curtis and Cassandra Bales; his great-granddaughter, Zoey Bales; and extended family and friends.
