IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Joseph Michael
Vaccarino
June 16, 1961 – March 14, 2026
Joseph Michael Vaccarino , age 64, of Lancaster, PA passed away peacefully on March 14, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer. A devoted father, grandfather, brother, and loyal friend, Joe had a way of making everyone around him feel like family, whether you'd known him for decades or just met him. His presence will be deeply missed by all whose lives he touched.
Born on June 16, 1961, in Monroe, NY, Joe was raised in Brooklyn, surrounded by a big, boisterous Italian family that included six brothers, and aunts, uncles, and cousins too numerous to count. It was in Brooklyn that Joe was shaped into the man he would become: hardworking, loyal, and always ready with a story or a laugh.
On May 12, 1990, Joe married Barbara Conroy, the love of his life, and later adopted her son, Sean. In 1991, he and Barbara welcomed their daughter, Christine. Seeking a better life for his family, Joe and Barbara traded the streets of Brooklyn for the farmlands of Lancaster, Pennsylvania — though, as anyone who knew him would tell you, you can take the boy out of Brooklyn, but you can never take Brooklyn out of the boy. Joey spoke of his Brooklyn years with pride. Just days before he passed, when asked if he was a military veteran, Joe grinned and replied, "No, but I was raised in Brooklyn!" Family and friends visiting Lancaster from New York knew to arrive bearing his favorite Brooklyn foods…and a few Manhattan Specials.
A Master Carpenter and longtime proud union member, in both New York and Pennsylvania, Joe worked hard to support his family, sometimes traveling two hours each way to reach a job site.
Outside of work, Joe's greatest joy was being with the people he loved. He cherished time spent fishing and shooting, gathering with close family and friends, and helping to raise his grandson, Wyatt. Joe was the kind of man you could count on — always ready to show up, lend a hand, and do whatever was needed without being asked twice.
Joe was predeceased by his beloved wife, Barbara Vaccarino; his mother, Regina Vaccarino; his father, Alfred Orenstein; his stepfather, Salvatore Vaccarino; and his brothers John Vaccarino, Guy Vaccarino, and Robert Vaccarino.
He is survived by his daughter, Christine Vaccarino, and his son, Sean Vaccarino (Carol); his grandchildren, Wyatt, Donovan, and Connor Vaccarino; his brothers Mitchell Scott (Melissa), Salvatore Vaccarino, and Dante Vaccarino (Laurie); and many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 21, at 1 PM at:
Holy Trinity Lutheran Church
31 South Duke St.

Flowers may be sent to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, or in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice and Community Care ( https://www.hospiceandcommunitycare.org/in-honor-in-memory-gifts/ ) which provided expert and compassionate care to both Joe and his wife Barbara
