Kathryn J. Bakota

Kathryn J. (Fike) Bakota, 77, of Hummelstown, passed away in Lancaster on August 12, 2026. Born in Uniontown to the late Herbert and Hester (Oliver) Fike, she was the loving wife of Henry A. Bakota, Jr. with whom she shared 55 years of marriage.

Kathryn served as a nurse for 44 years (1970-2014). She worked briefly for West Virginia University but spent most of her career at Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center in the NICU. Her love for kids was extraordinary.

She was a trained hairstylist. Enjoyed cutting hair for the family and friends.

She was a member and supporter of St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital and Harrisburg’s Bethesda Mission.

In addition to her husband, Henry, she is survived by her son, Christopher Bakota; her daughter, Samantha Shadursky (wife of Kenneth); her four beautiful grandchildren, Nikki, Kailey (husband, Johnny), Emily, and Tyler; her nieces and nephew, Colleen, Debbie, Alan, Kim, and Kelley; her beloved sister, Linda; as well as extended family and many friends.
