Kathryn Haverly Rosenfeld  24 March 1952 – 10 October 2024

Kathryn Haverly Rosenfeld passed away on 10 October 2024 after a long illness. Kathy was a lifelong resident of Lancaster County. She attended Lancaster Catholic High School, graduating in 1970. She attended Millersville State College (now Millersville University), and received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Fine Art in 1974. Kathy was an artist and a photographer. She worked for BRT Photo in Lancaster for ten years, and later operated a silk screening and commercial art business called K-Screens. Later she also served as a substitute teacher. She was a member of the former Bethel Mennonite Church in Lancaster.

Kathy married into a farm family, so it was inevitable that she would get involved in agriculture. She participated in work on the family farm, and later served as the office manager for Go Native Tree Farm for two years. She loved the natural world.

In 1984, Kathy became interested in cave exploration, developing a range of skills at which she excelled. She became a certified cave diver, and she enjoyed cave diving with a capable group of cave divers in Florida. She participated in a number of cave exploration and mapping projects in Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia, and Hawaii. Kathy participated with a group to enact cave protection legislation in Pennsylvania. She was a member of the National Speleological Society, the York Grotto, and the Butler Cave Conservation Society.

Kathy was the daughter of Claire and Mavis Haverly, formerly of Millersville PA. She married John Rosenfeld in 1985, and they had a son together, Hans C. Rosenfeld. In addition to John and Hans, she is survived by a sister, Jeanne Haverly Kohler.

A memorial service is being planned for March 2025.
