IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Kathy Jeanne (Nee Ray)
Terhorst
February 15, 1949 – February 15, 2026
The above photo is of Kathy on the Danube River overlooking Budapest, Hungary, July 2023.
Kathy Jeanne (nee Ray) Terhorst spent the evening before her death visiting with her family who came to her bedside to celebrate her birthday with hugs and kisses. She passed early the next morning at her Lititz, PA home shortly after the arrival of her 77th birthday on Sunday, February 15, 2026. Kathy's husband, Raymond Terhorst, was by her side at her passing. Kathy (AKA Granny Kate, AKA "GK") will forever be missed and forever be loved.
Kathy graduated from Groves High School in Port Wentworth, Georgia, a town that is part of the metropolitan area of Savannah, Georgia. After getting married and moving to Maryland, she took college courses at a community college in Baltimore County, Maryland but opted not to pursue a degree in order to be a wife and mother and to support her family members with their career and academic pursuits. Kathy ultimately worked several years in sales and customer service positions before taking early retirement to become a caregiver for two of her grandchildren.
Kathy loved traveling with her husband, and she travelled throughout Asia, Europe, Canada, and Mexico. Via their travels, she spent time in Central China, including time in Macao, Hong Kong, Beijing, Shanghai, and Xiangfan, a city in the Province of Hubei, China.
But Kathy had an incredible fascination with Europe and had taken several river trips throughout Central Europe on the Danube, Rhine, and Elbe Rivers. When asked about her favorite European sojourns, she would often add to her responses that the Christmas Markets were what thrilled and delighted her. Such is not surprising to those who have known Kathy and knew that she loved Christmas given that Christmas was an essential part of her childhood and a time to be with her very large and close family. Kathy's love of travels and her delight in discoveries were shared, when possible, via trips with her children and grandchildren.
Kathy's generosity, compassion, and caring nature were quietly, profoundly, and simply the essence of her being. Man's constructs, as evident in her inherent nature, were but distractions that she would never let interfere with her love and celebration of goodness and kindness.
Kathy's loving family includes her Husband, Raymond G. Terhorst; Daughter, Stacy L. Dimling and Husband Charles Dimling; Son, Raymond G. Terhorst, II and Wife Jennifer Gresock. Children of Stacy and Charles: Abbey Lynn Nordhoff and Jake A. Dimling. Children of Raymond II and Jennifer: Tiernan A. Terhorst and Julian T. Terhorst. Kathy's loving family also includes her very special niece, Anita Guthrie and Anita's husband David Guthrie.
Though not a family member, Kathy also shared a heart-felt love with a kind, caring medical provider, Doctor Bethany Bustamante, who guided and supported Kathy and Kathy's family throughout the last years of Kathy's journey. Doctor Bethany: we will be forever grateful.
