With profound sadness we announce the passing of Lois Ann Lied Shaffer, 81, who left us on October 12, 2021. Lois is survived by her loving husband, Ronald Linwood Shaffer , whom she celebrated 62 years of marriage. Born to the late Raymond and Hilda Lied, she grew up in Embreeville. She attended Unionville before graduating from Coatesville High School. Lois and Ron resided in Thorndale, before moving to Morgantown, Lancaster County for the last 40 years. Surviving in addition to her husband are her children and their spouses; Penny Shaffer, Michael and Teal Shaffer, Melissa and Jeff Hochhaus; grandchildren, Aaron, Rachel, Erika and Derek; and great-grandchildren, Liam and Leo. She is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law, James and Kathy Lied, and sister-in-law Maggie, wife of her late brother Edward Lied. Lois loved gardening, and actively enjoyed spending time outside. She enjoyed traveling and attending events with her family. She lived a full life as a caring wife, mother, preschool teacher and grandmother. She loved children and enjoyed being a preschool teacher for many years including at Kinder Haus, New Holland. A country girl at heart, she loved her family and will be dearly missed by all. The family wishes to thank all of those who cared for her during her last days.
