Obituary

In Memoriam: Mary B. Aamold (née Russo) Mary B. Aamold, a cherished soul, passed away on December 18, 2024, at the age of 83 in York, PA. Born on July 11, 1941, in Baltimore, MD, Mary lived a life filled with love, laughter, and unwavering devotion to her family and community. Mary's journey was marked by warmth and an infectious spirit that illuminated every room she entered. Her formative years were spent in Baltimore, where she graduated from Southern High School, Class of 1959. With a keen intellect and a quick wit, she embarked on a career as an Executive Assistant, serving with grace and diligence at notable organizations such as The Baltimore Paint Company, Jiffy Lube, National Security Agency, Hogg Construction, and the York County Chamber of Commerce. Throughout her career and life, Mary was the epitome of dedication, not just to her work but to those she loved dearly. Above all, she treasured time spent with her family. Whether at holiday gatherings, birthday celebrations, or simply cheering on her grandchildren at their sporting events, Mary's true happiness was found in the company of her family. Her bond with her husband, Gary M. Aamold, her sons, William E. Cook III, and David B. Cook, and their families was profound and enduring. She found immense joy in the simple pleasures of life: vacations along the sun-drenched beaches of Ocean City, MD and the Outer Banks of NC, thrilling bus trips to the serene locales of New England and Maine, and evenings spent rooting for the Baltimore Orioles. An aficionado of Hallmark movies and a devoted fan of John Travolta, Mary knew how to weave joy into the tapestry of everyday life. Her evenings were often painted with the laughter shared over board games and card games, especially pinochle, with her siblings. Mary leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories, embodied in her sister, Mildred Bessling, brother-in-law, Albert Bessling, sister-in-law, Patricia Floyd, and her treasured grandchildren, Samantha Cook Parce, Kelly Vaccaro, and Wade Cook, along with numerous nieces and nephews. The family invites all who knew her to a Celebration of Life Service to be held on Saturday March 29th at 12:00 pm, hosted by Lighthouse Church, 6691 Baymeadow Drive, Suite 100, Glen Burnie, Maryland 21060.  In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the Alzheimer's Association in her memory, honoring her indomitable spirit and lifelong dedication to those she held dear. As we bid farewell to Mary B. Aamold, we hold onto her ethos of love and the incredible joy she brought to the lives she touched. She will forever remain in our hearts, a beacon of love and laughter, guiding us to cherish each day with those we love.
