Obituary

Michael Joseph Lynch, 68, of Conestoga, Pennsylvania, passed away on July 11, 2024. He was the beloved husband of Gail R Lynch (Deihm) and they would have celebrated 43 years of marriage this December. Born in Harrisburg, PA, on August 24, 1955, he was the son of the late William J Lynch and Loretta M Lynch (Sobczak).

Michael grew up in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, where he credited Queen of Heaven grade school for giving him a great foundation for life. He attended Cherry Hill High School West, where he was on the gymnastics team and enjoyed working on cars with friends.

After graduating in 1973, Mike enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. Serving in theinfantry, he rose to the rank of Sergeant, earning accolades including the Good Conduct and National Defense Service Medals, as well as a Rifle Sharpshooter Badge. He completed tours of duty in Okinawa, Japan, the Mediterranean Sea, and Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. Upon his honorable discharge in 1977, Mike pursued his passion for mechanics at Lincoln Technical School, earning an associate's degree in Diesel Mechanics. He then settled in Lancaster, PA, where he met his bride, Gail and also dedicated 28 years to Ryder Truck Rental as a skilled diesel truck technician.

Beyond his career, Mike was a devoted family man and outdoors enthusiast. He adored hunting, hiking, and snowmobiling, always accompanied by his love for classic rock music. A die-hard fan of the Phillies and Eagles, his loyalty to his South Jersey roots never wavered. His deep interest in history led him to frequent visits to Gettysburg and military museums.

In 2006, Mike faced a life-altering challenge with a traumatic brain injury, which drew him to the Tempo Clubhouse. There, he found purpose in utilizing his skills and forming connections with fellow brain injury survivors. Known for his kindness, affability, and quick wit, Mike left a lasting impression on everyone he met.

Surviving alongside his devoted wife Gail, are his three children: Tony Lynch and his wife Valerie of Virginia Beach, Michael W Lynch of Conestoga, and Kelly Lynch Harnish and her husband Justin of Conestoga. He also leaves behind four cherished grandchildren: Lexi, Mia, Andrew, and Reese. In addition, Mike is survived by his siblings Diane, Carol, Nancy, and Bill, all residing in New Jersey, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Michael is preceded in death by his loving parents and nephew Nicky.
