IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Nancy L.
Smith
June 28, 1954 – October 14, 2025
Nancy Lee Smith, 71, of Waynesboro, PA, passed away at Wellspan York Hospital on October 14, 2025. Born in Washington, D.C. to the later Sheridan and Norma (Snyder) Wininger, she was a homemaker.
Nancy Lee Smith was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose love knew no bounds. She was an incredible friend, a tireless caregiver, and a true saint of a woman whose kindness and strength touched everyone she met. Nancy had a rich, gentle voice and the kind of loving arms that could soothe even the angriest baby with a beautiful lullaby. Her home was always filled with laughter, warmth, and the irresistible aroma of meals big enough to feed an army and somehow always made sure there were leftovers.
She found joy in the simple things: crafting something beautiful with her hands, watching her grandbabies play, watching horses run, and rocking in her recliner while watching her favorite movies or screaming, jumping around watching the Redskins play. She was the magic in every holiday, the heart of every gathering, and the comfort in every storm.
Nancy never missed a moment that mattered. She made sure to be at every school event, cheering proudly for each of her babies, and she was always just one call away to anyone who needed her. She was the type of woman who would open her home to anyone in need without batting a lash. Always made sure that every person that walked into the house knew they were safe, understood and loved without exception.
Now, somewhere in heaven, Nancy is at peace, fishing beside her beloved husband, Buddy. Her laughter carries on the wind, her love still felt in every heart she touched. Nancy’s legacy lives on in the hearts of every child she cradled, every life she brightened, and every person who was blessed to be loved by her. She will be deeply sincerely missed, but not a day will go by without her watching over each and every one of us.
She is survived by her four children, Roy Wininger, Thomas Wininger, Victoria Lease, and Nicklas Smith, as well as numerous grandchildren and extended family.Gramma, I love you most, forever and always.
