Renee Lynn Hernandez

Renee Lynn Hernandez, 50, originally of Allentown, Pennsylvania, and most recently a resident of Steelton, passed away on April 8, 2026. Her passing leaves a deep ache in the hearts of all who knew her, but her memory remains bright, full of laughter, generosity, and unwavering love.

Renee is survived by her mother, Barb Chatman; her brother, Angelo Hernandez; and her sisters, Melanie Gerlach, Michele Funk. She also leaves behind two nephews and four nieces, along with their children, several uncles, an aunt, and cousins she loved dearly, each of whom held a special place in her heart.

Renee’s love extended beyond her immediate family. She held a special bond with the Chatman family, and it meant a great deal to her to speak at the service of the late John Chatman, honoring him with the same compassion she offered to everyone she cared about.

From a young age, Renee had a heart for service. She volunteered at Westminster Village/Senior Living in Allentown, working with the adult day program before later joining the staff. Her dedication to caring for others continued as she worked as a CNA at Sacred Heart Hospital, where her kindness and steady presence made a difference to countless patients and families.

Renee had a big heart—one that would give its last without hesitation. She was a protector by nature, someone who stood up for the people she loved and made sure they felt safe, seen, and supported. Her laughter was unforgettable, the kind that filled a room and brought others to tears from joy. She loved to make people laugh just as much as she loved laughing herself.

Renee’s life was defined by compassion, loyalty, and a spirit that lifted others even when she carried her own burdens quietly. She will be remembered for her warmth, her humor, and the love she gave so freely.

Her family and friends will forever hold her close in their hearts.
