IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Robert Bruce
Kent
February 7, 1947 – March 11, 2026
Robert Bruce (known as Bruce) Kent , 79, of Lancaster, passed away at Lancaster General Hospital on March 11, 2026. Born in Philadelphia in 1947 to the late Ivan C. and Margaret M. (Aldridge) Kent, he was the loving husband of Grace Theresa (Oehmke) Kent.
Bruce truly was a Jack-of-All-Trades with a diverse career. He served as a chef in the Coast Guard and continued to work as a chef after he was discharged. In addition, he worked as a heating repair specialist, a retail sales specialist in pharmacy, commissary sales at Graterford Prison, and in lumber sales. He worked at Knoll, Inc. for 15 years both on the floor and in the Occupational Health and Safety office, at Vanguard as a processor, and at Parkhouse as a custodian.
Just like his career, Bruce had a wide and diverse set of hobbies, including fishing, woodworking, watching the Phillies, playing whiffleball with the family in the back yard, gardening, spending time with his family, cooking Thanksgiving dinner, and celebrating Christmas.
Bruce was a past member of the Flourtown Fire Company and a member of the United States Coast Guard Lightship Sailors Association, through which he treasured the camaraderie that he had with his fellow lightship sailors.
In addition to his wife Grace, he is survived by his children Anne (Nathaniel) Gibson, Brian Kent, and Mary (Ryan) Humphries, and his grandchildren, Grace Humphries and Henry Humphries.
Bruce was preceded in death by both parents, his brother Richard, and sister Virginia Proud.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family.
