Obituary

Robert G. Morrison, 88, of New Holland, PA, passed away on Friday, August 30, 2024, at Garden Spot Village. He was the husband of Ruth H. Morrison who preceded him in death after 58 years of marriage. Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Rev. John B. and Florence Morrison.

Bob was a 1959 graduate of University of Pennsylvania, earning a bachelor's degree in architecture. For 45 years Bob worked as a Design/Project Manager and Senior Associate at the Kling Architectural, Engineering and Interior Design offices headquartered in Philadelphia. During his tenure he directed major building projects for some of the world's largest corporations, academic and governmental organizations. In addition to his role in professional architecture, Bob designed and built Treetops, Bob and Ruth's midcentury modern home and gardens in Fort Washington.  Bob also donated his architectural services to Glenside Bible Church and Chelten Baptist Church where he designed and built numerous teaching classrooms including his wife Ruth's preschool classrooms at Chelten.

Bob's lifelong love of music resulted in a more than 55-year career as a soloist and chorister including Wheaton Men's Glee Club and Glenside Bible, Chelten, and Church of the Savior choirs.  He loved classical orchestral and choral music, and his homes were always filled with song. Bob also loved to garden, designing Japanese flower and rock gardens at Treetops and his gardens dedicated to his wife Ruth and brother Bill at Garden Spot.  Bob loved to greet people who frequently stopped to admire God's handiwork in nature.

Retiring 23 years ago, Bob turned much of his attention, particularly during his 14 years at Garden Spot to his photography, exhibiting his work regularly.  Bob was interested in capturing God's creative world particularly in people and nature, expressing both visual and poetic imagery while reflecting the multiple layers of meaning and metaphor that surround us in every phase of life. Bob's life goals could be summed up in one phrase - do all to the glory of God.

Bob is survived by his son, Robert G. Jr, married to Michelle of Chicago, IL, and his two grandchildren Xander and Sierra. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth and his brother J. William Morrison.
