Obituary

Susan Kinch (Henry) Bower, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, passed away peacefully on June 7, 2026, in Hershey, Pennsylvania, surrounded by her family.

Susan was born on December 11, 1952, in Anniston, Alabama, and spent her early years in England and Italy, as part of a military family. She earned an associate’s degree in Elder Care from Harrisburg Area Community College, a bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Shippensburg University, and later trained at York College for her licensure as a Nursing Home Administrator. She devoted her life to caring for the elderly population, showing her endless compassion for those in the later stages of life.

Susan’s love for her family was unparalleled, and she often expressed it through the time she spent with them and the small, caring gestures she made. For Susan, her family was her ultimate passion, and she devoted herself to being the best mother and grandmother she could be. Susan's memory will be treasured forever, as we hold her close in our hearts and remember the love she brought into this world.

Susan is survived by her beloved son, Clay McAllister (Alexis) of Mechanicsburg, and her three grandchildren, Noah Paul, Avery Susan, and Owen Clayton McAllister, all of whom were her pride and joy and her most precious accomplishment. She also leaves behind her dear brother James J. Henry and sister-in-law Nora Louise Henry. Susan's memory will be forever honored by her loving nieces, Cassandra Rumbaugh and her husband Jeff, Alexandra Henry and her husband Keith Schweigert, and Emelia Lakeman and her husband Jeremy, all of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, as well as her great-niece, Callie Rumbaugh; and her great-nephew, Luke Rumbaugh, who will miss her deeply.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Janet Kinch Henry; father, Ellsworth Clayton Henry; maternal uncles Max Kinch and his wife Blanche, Dean Kinch and his wife Dot; and Dale Kinch and his wife Pat.

In keeping with Susan’s wishes, no formal services will be held. A private family burial will take place at a later date.
