Theodore "Ted" Mark Rutt

Theodore ("Ted") Mark Rutt, 64, of Lancaster, passed away on October 12, 2026, at Neffsville Nursing and Rehabilitation. Born on October 28, 1961, he grew up in Blue Ball, Pennsylvania and was a 1980 graduate of Garden Spot High School.

Ted is survived by his son, Conner, of Davis, California, as well as his six siblings: Jack (Gloria) Rutt, Janis (Richard) Landes, Philip (Marian) Rutt, Mary Beth (Donald) Kautz, Mervin (Ellen) Rutt, and Rebecca Martin. He is also fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews.

Known for his strong work ethic, Ted developed skills in a variety of trades that included commercial truck driving and welding. He retained a remarkable curiosity, an extensive vocabulary, and a gift for wordplay. His quick wit, dry humor, and occasional sarcasm delighted family members, especially his many nieces and nephews.

An avid reader with an inquisitive mind, Ted had a passion for nonfiction, current events, and research. Fascinated by technology, he taught himself computer skills and enjoyed contributing his knowledge and editing talents to Wikipedia. He was also a loyal fan of the Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles.

Ted cherished his large family and enjoyed contributing a favorite dish to holiday gatherings. He was especially known for challenging relatives to a spirited game of Boggle, where his impressive vocabulary made him nearly unbeatable. He will be remembered for his sharp mind, clever humor, love of learning, and the special place he held in his family's hearts.

He was predeceased by his parents, Mervin (Sr.) and Gladys McGinnis Rutt.

The family will hold a celebration of Ted's life at their convenience.
