Obituary

Theresa G. Gerbert, 90, of Naples FL and recently of Lititz, died peacefully Sunday April 2, 2023. Theresa was born the second of four children in Creighton, PA and graduated valedictorian from Brackenridge High School in the suburban Pittsburgh area. She went on to work as an X-Ray technician for a short time after graduation. In 1957 she married Howard Gerbert, of Lower Burrell. Together they raised their two children, Kathleen (Bryan Yingling) of Lancaster; and David (Marianne Villa) of Dillsburg. After being home with the young children she began working at Gulf Oil in Research and Development. She ended her career as a geophysicist. Working at the Harmarville Research Center for a majority of her career, she was eventually transferred to Houston, TX. Theresa worked in Houston for Chevron for three years until her retirement. She then returned back home to Pennsylvania. Her family moved to the Oaks Plan of Allegheny Township in 1966 where they remained until she and Howard retired to Naples, Florida where they had resided for more than 30 years. She will likely be remembered for her wit, intelligence, smile, laughter, uncanny ability to launder clothing to OCD perfection, beautiful vocals as well as her many other personality traits. Theresa was sharp, clever, spunky and driven to perfection until the last several years when she broke her hip and shortly following that she lost her husband – losing much of her enthusiasm for life. She continued to expectantly await her reunion with her husband, family and friends who had gone on before her. Theresa had always been a "little" late when arriving to a gathering, much to the chagrin of her immediate family. Therefore, surely all of the Angels and Heavenly Spirits expected she would be arriving a little later than the rest of the crowd. Theresa is survived by her children, grandchildren (Grace and Claudia Yingling) and her younger twin brothers, Robert (Illinois) and Richard (Ford City). She also leaves behind numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews that will cherish her memory. Theresa's funeral mass will be announced at a later date with her burial being held privately at sea. Rest in Heavenly Peace Theresa.
