In Loving Memory of Tina Megale DeCicco

Tina Megale DeCicco, of East York, Pennsylvania, passed away on August 25th at the age of 69. She was born in Norristown, Pennsylvania, on July 14, 1957, to Anthony Augustus DeCicco and Nana Lee Danner DeCicco.

Tina had a special heart for seniors and found great fulfillment in caring for them, both in their homes and in care facilities. She gave generously of herself and had a natural compassion for those who needed a little extra kindness and care.

Animals held an equally special place in Tina’s heart. Throughout her life, she welcomed all kinds of creatures into her world—from a pet skunk to a lizard and everything in between. Her love for animals was not merely a fondness; it was a genuine respect and tenderness for every living thing.

When people think of Tina, words like feisty, kind, giving, and determined come to mind. Life was not always easy for her, but Tina met its challenges with acceptance and a remarkably positive attitude. She had a strength that carried her through difficult times, and she continued to find reasons to love, laugh, and care for others.

One of Tina’s greatest blessings came recently, when her dream of being reunited with her daughter finally came true. That reunion brought a special joy into her life and was a gift she cherished.

Tina is survived by her beloved daughter, Genna Ciccarelli, and her siblings, Anthony Dennis DeCicco and Deana Ann DeCicco Ostgard. She is also survived by her Uncle Sal and cousin Machiell, who both played an important and cherished role in her life and were a meaningful part of her journey. as well as a larger family of additional cousins. 

A Memory from Her Brother Tony

One of Tony’s favorite memories of Tina took place when the whole family, including their grandparents, went fishing in rowboats at Upper Perkiomen Park.

Five-year-old Tina suddenly felt a tug on her hand line and excitedly pulled in a small sunfish. She was absolutely ecstatic!

Everyone else, however, was completely shocked—the fish had somehow been hooked right through the eyeball!

Tina didn't care about that little detail. She was immensely proud of her catch and was determined to show it to all the neighbors around Valley View Circle. Their mother cut about three feet of fishing line, leaving the fish hanging from it, and Tony escorted Tina around the neighborhood as she happily dragged her prized catch from house to house.

It was classic Tina—proud, determined, completely fearless, and delighted to share her excitement with everyone around her.

A Memory from Her Sister Deana

Tina's love for animals began at an early age.

Deana remembers going out with seven-year-old Tina on numerous occasions, collecting animals that had been killed along the road. Together, they would bring them up to the field and respectfully bury them.

Even as a child, Tina had an enormous heart. She saw value and dignity in every living creature and wanted to give them a proper resting place.

That compassion stayed with her throughout her life.

Tina will be remembered for her fierce spirit, generous heart, love of animals, devotion to those she cared for, and her ability to keep moving forward with a positive spirit even when life was difficult. Her life touched many people, and the memories she leaves behind will continue to bring both smiles and tears to those who loved her.
