Vaughn Kenneth Ruhl , 82, of Talmage, passed away at Alpine Nursing and Rehab on March 10, 2026. Born in Lancaster County to the late Kenneth and Viola (Schmuck) Ruhl, he was the husband of Jean Marie (Loose) Ruhl.

Vaughn was a man of many trades, but he was most known for his work as a highly skilled sewing machine mechanic and successful owner of Elite Apparel in Paradise, PA for 20 years.

He loved the mountains and the outdoors and enjoyed visiting his cabin in Potter County. In particular, he loved archery and deer hunting with much success over the years. Later in life he hunted with his camera both taking still photographs and videos of wildlife.

Vaughn loved animals with a particular interest in horses. At 14 years old, he adopted his first horse and his love for horses grew from there. For many years he cared for any cat that trickled onto the property, providing basic and medical needs as well as much needed love. Most of the cats were feral, but Vaughn had a gift, so that many soon bonded to him. He had many golden retrievers that he loved as well. He treated every animal that he had as if they were family.

In his younger years Vaughn restored and customized a 1954 Oldsmobile that he showed and won many trophies. Always extremely hard working and determined to provide for his family, there was nothing he couldn't fix.

In addition to his wife, Jean, Vaughn is survived by his son, Vaughn (Nook) Ruhl, Jr; daughter, Heather (Kevin) Thibeault; loving grandchildren, Emilie and Zack Thibeault; and loving Great Grandchild, Kai Thibeault. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and neighbors.

There are no services scheduled at this time, but a celebration of life may be scheduled in the future.
