Virginia Lillian (Derda) Sakovics, of Hawley, Pennsylvania died peacefully in her sleep on February 21st in the home of her daughter Deb (Sakovics) Snell and her son-in-law, John Snell. Virginia was 98 years old. She was born in Chicago, and lived much of her life in Hellertown and Bethlehem, PA. The last six years she lived with her daughter and son-in-law in Hawley, PA. Virgina was an avid and talented seamstress and sewed many of the baby clothes for her four grandchildren, Micheal (Snell), Jeremy and Owen (Sakovics), and Meadow (Sakovics/Pepino). She was an avid reader and was quite skilled with her hands, doing projects ranging from rewiring lamps to building dollhouses and refinishing furniture. She was married to Charlie Sakovics for 55 years and is survived by her two children, Deborah (Sakovics) Snell and Charles (Chip) Sakovics; a sister, Joan Malszewsk; four grandchildren; four great grandchildren - and soon to be a fifth - with the arrival of another great grandson, in May (courtesy of Jeremy and Monica).
