IN LOVING MEMORY OF
William F.
Draper
June 29, 1946 – February 27, 2026
William "Bill" F. Draper , 79, of Quarryville, passed from this world on February 27, 2026, leaving behind a home still warm with the things he loved — sawdust and antiques, a well-kept yard, and the laughter of grandchildren.
Born in 1946 in West Chester to the late Frederick and Thelma (Brackin) Draper, Bill was the devoted husband of Denise (O'Brien) Draper and a man who gave everything he had to the people and places in his care.
He served his country with distinction as a proud veteran of the United States Navy during the Vietnam War, earning the rare distinction of serving aboard both aircraft carriers and submarines. That same steadiness and quiet commitment followed him home. After Vietnam, Bill spent more than 35 years with the Chrysler Corporation, building a career as dependable as the man himself.
In his retirement, Bill found his greatest joy close to home. He was happiest with his hands in the soil or working on a project around the house — always building, fixing, or improving something. His love of woodworking and Depression glass gave way to a deeper passion for antiques and the stories they carried. Bill had a gift for seeing history in the things others overlooked, and that curiosity was one of his most lasting gifts — inspiring in his daughter Molly a love for everything old and beautiful that she carries with her still.
But nothing lit him up quite like his grandchildren. He was the kind of grandfather who made every visit feel like an occasion, and the kids knew it — always asking when they'd get to see Pop again.
Those who knew Bill could see him clearly in his children. Molly inherited his eye for beauty and history, and Graham his tireless work ethic — showing up every day with the same quiet dedication his father modeled for decades, providing for his family the way Bill always provided for his. It is one of the finest things a father can leave behind.
Bill was a member of the AMVETS and St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Quarryville, communities that reflected the faith and service that defined him.
In addition to his beloved wife Denise, Bill is survived by his daughter, Molly Draper, and her fiancé, Colin Suber; his son, Graham Draper, and his wife, Kate Draper; grandchildren Emmett, Rory, Theo, and Ezra Draper; as well as extended family and a wide circle of friends who will miss him dearly.
Services will be held privately at the family's convenience.
